Denton Welch

I Left My Grandfather's House - an interesting book with a very abrubt end.  Can't say I took to DW very much but his powers of observation are wonderful.  He remarks on the wind through the telegraph wires which made me very nostalgic and other details.  His connection with Jane Austen was that he gazed at her tomb in Winchester Cathedral.

You wouldn't be the first to find Welch too precious.

I didn't think of reading My Grandfather's House because, unlike many of his other writings, it does not have a Kent setting. But, thanks to you, we can now weave this in to our other detective work.
