Charlotte Smith and Sir Samuel Egerton Brydges - Sonnets

Hi Reading Detectives,

Another Kent Find sent in by Penshurst Place and Gardens http://www.penshurstplace.com/

The following is an excerpt from the author Margaret Wilson about the Penshurst literary connections to Kent.

In the late 18th century Charlotte Smith, the poet and novelist, wrote a Sonnet at Penshurst in 1788 and Sir Samuel Egerton Brydges, who knew Jane Austen, also wrote a Sonnet at Penshurst, which was printed in a Preface to the 'Life of Sire Philip Sidney' by Fulke Greville in 1816.
