My books
The Longest Journey by EM Forster was the first one I read and after being immersed in Jane Austen for three months this was completely different. Really depressing but I couldn't put it down. I would like to have the time to study it as there is so much symbolism etc but the introductions and appendices are around one third of the book so this will have to wait. the other book I am reading is Kent Bedside Book by John Vigar which is great fun but I had rather a giggle as the into to 'Towns and Villages' states he has tried to choose pieces that still - to some extent - reflect the character of the county today and the first piece on Canterbury is about the Danes and King Ethelred massacring and slaying 43,200 persons. I am to visit Canterbury in September!!!20 August 2009 from Vivian Branson
