Portsea Sagas Find!

Julia O' Sullivan was born in Portsmouth and was the wife of a submariner - both facts inform her writing.  At the Winchester Writers Conference a decade ago Julia had a one-to-one session with a publisher, bringing along a synopsis and opening chapters of her novel.  Hodder and Stoughton were looking for new locations, new sagas and Julia was signed.  After a career in nursing and raising a family 'Julia Bryant' would now be a published author.

In her writing Julia celebrates her city's maritime past. She is particularly interested in the women who had to show courage, humour and resourcefulness in: "Living their lives between the tides of men at home and men at sea." There are six books in the Portsea series.

Julia now inspires other creative writers by leading a writing group at the John Pounds Centre Library in Portsea.
