Forgotten Favourite? Find!

When I've been speaking to people about the 'Reading Detectives' and our search a number have mentioned 'Children of the New Forest' by Frederick Marryat.  It is one of those cases where if you live in a particular area you may think including a certain title is too obvious, but when I've said this the reply has been that the book isn't mentioned much anymore and could be in the category of 'fallen from fashion'.  Maybe not so suprising when you realise it was first published in 1847.  This children's tale takes place during the English Civil War, during which four children find refuge with a forester and learn how to survive in a very different climate, it's a classic adventure story - people I've spoken to remember their edition from childhood - is it still being read widely now, still gripping new generations?..

If it's not, I hope that this mention will rekindle interest.
