Hampshire Gets Going

The Hampshire 'detectives' met for the first time last night in the Winchester Discovery Centre. A really enthusiastic group of individuals with membership ranging from a librarian to an archivist to former booksellers - but importantly all keen readers.  It was inspiring to share knowledge and recognise just how rich the county's literary heritage is.  Now we're on the trail of unearthing lesser known works, writers and connections to our locality.  Last nights conversation made us realise there's plenty out there to keep us busy over the next couple of months.  We'll research writers, now out of fashion, that need championing once more.  We'll investigate writers that have used Hampshire as inspiration for character names as well as for settings.  We'll be looking to the past and to the present, across the entire county.  It's an exciting trail and I'm delighted to be part of it.
