Coffee and books at the Bluebell Bookshop

What a lovely hour I spent at the Bluebell Bookshop in Penrith on Thursday morning. With an hour to fill before a meeting at Penrith Library I chatted with Derek, the owner, about the Reading Detectives project and discovered some interesting books in the Cumbria section of the shop. What a lot of creative writing goes on in the Eden valley! Lots of lovely poetry and some interesting books on the villages and people of this beautiful and perhaps less well-known area of Cumbria. There were certainly several books which really caught my eye and I returned to Grange with a list of titles scribbled on bits of paper which I will pursue next week. I cannot leave a bookshop without a purchase and this time it was a small book of prose and poetry which I think is a real gem. If someone else from the group agrees this could soon be listed as a find!

Hi Reading Detectives, how about a tour of England's booktown and a delve into all the out-of-print titles to be had.

I am away until January 2010 but would be happy to host a visit on my return. cheers Carole
